Montreal Bagels in Toronto
Toasted Bagel with salmon, onions and cream cheese.
I had a meeting with Max, the fashion editor of FAB today at a place called MB co (short for Montreal Bread Company). Go to their web site it's pretty funky but the locations are a bit hard to read with all the graphics cluter.
The place is located in Yorkville, a ritzy part of town. The address is 100 Bloor street west, unit 7. The important thing to remember when looking for the location is that it's placed on the north side of the building. So if you're walking along Bloor, walk up Bellair and it's located just south of the "park" which is south of cumberland. It's hard not to miss as long as you're looking in the right direction (that being south).
The place has been there for four years I've been told. In those four years I've never looked in that direction specifically. To the north is one of my favorite sushi places (Sushi Inn).
MB co has a bunch of sandwiches right in front of the entrance. They all looked good, but the one that stood out for me was the toasted bagel with salmon. It was a Montreal style bagel!!! I couldn't past that up as I love montreal bagels.
I picked one up with a fizzy citrus drink. The total came to about $12.00. It's good to treat yourself every now and then and it was worth it. I never knew how much I missed eating Montreal bagels until that moment.
I ordered a second bagel (with salmon) to enjoy while waiting for Max. He was running a bit late thanks to daylight savings time. He showed up before the second bagel was put in front of me. Oh, and I also ordered this small blueberry custard tart (see below). It was also amazing.
Blueberry desert-type piece of goodness.
I'm going to have to go back to this place more often or go to Montreal. If you're in the neighborhood and want to treat yourself I recommend this place.
