Rainy Day

Waiting on the 401

Today I managed to get work on a show called the "State Within". The job consisted of taking out cable work from the ceiling of a corporate type office while main unit shot on the other side of the building. The other part of the job was to transport stuff back and forth from set.

It was during the transporting of goods that I found myself smack dab in a crawling highway lane. The van I was driving was stationary for over 10 minutes. Having nothing to do but watch to see if the traffic would crawl ahead I decided it was a good time to take the camera out.

It wasn't until getting off the 401 that I noticed two trucks had collided into one another. Later on on the way home we passed by a car that had spun out taking a turn. It's raining... Slow down people! sheesh.

Street Festival

Part of the Toronto Street Festival north of Yonge and Eglinton

After sleeping in I made my way uptown and noticed part of a street festival going on. The hilight being a vendor selling green curry chicken for only $1. It wasn't a dinner sized amount but a good snack size. I would compare it to the size of a grapefruit, if made from a sticky green sphere of rice, chicken and curry.

Bill's Birthday

Bill's Birthday Party

Saturday and I found myself back at the Docks. This time it was for Bill's birthday. Bill, a guy I met through Simon (photographer to the stars), ordered me to drop by for his birthday. He said that if I didn't have any fun he would pay me $100 in cash.

It was an odd offer and granted I think he was a bit drunk at the time but I was in birthday mode and wanted to go anyway. The weekend was jammed with birthdays with Leanna, Bill, Emmanuel, Kyoko and Michi's birthday all within a four day span. Non-stop socializing and entertainment not to mention a whack of picture taking.

Boating away from the city

Bill's party started around 10pm at the Docks where he had a area set aside just for the party. After a bunch of eating, drinking, dancing and socializing the party moved to Jeff's boat and putting around the Toronto Islands.

Pillow overboard

At one point someone sitting on the bow (front of the boat) knocked over a pillow into the lake. It took a few minutes to notify the captain and have a course heading change for a pillow intercept course. Eventually the pillow was pulled out of the lake with a fishing net.

We all sat on the boat watching the sun come up over the city. It was almost 7am when unloaded at the Docks and made our way to Mars Food for breakfast.

Dead Man's Chest

Nicole and Leanna pose during magic hour

As part of an on going birthday thing for Leanna, a bunch of us met up in front of the Paramount theatre to go see the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Leanna's Birthday Lunch

Leanna pimped out with party favors

Leanna, my make up artist/friend/favorite Lancome girl, had her birthday today. To help her celebrate I took her out for a small birthday lunch armed with a small green bag of birthday goodness. She wore the Happy Birthday tiara back to work.

Preggo

My pregnant friend

One of my friends, who will remain nameless until such a time I can release her name publicly, is pregnant. Before you ask, "No, I'm not the father.", just the photographer friend that was asked to shoot some belly shots.

I like this shot as it looks like someone is holding a rather large egg.

Getting It On

Two bugs going at it on my spearmint plant.

Today I noticed two bugs doing the nasty on my spearmint plant. I guess they didn't have to worry about bad breath. Seriously though there have been a bunch of advertisements floating around warning about some asian beetle eating and destroying our trees. I wasn't sure what kind of species these bugs were.

If any of you readers out there know what kind of beetles these are please post a comment.

The Neighbor's Dog

One of Katlin's dogs

At around 2:00pm I went outside to water the plants. I bumped into my upstairs neighbor and her two dogs on the front lawn. Small but extremely energetic they barked at me until I went up to pet them. They lost interest and started barking at some women walking up the street.

Just Add Water

The Docks entertainment complex

One of the post Canada parties this weekend was at the Docks. A rather large entertainment complex complete with a go cart track, obstacle course, volleyball, golf, drive in movie theatre, inside club/stage, and a really large outdoor patio.

Tonight's event was a Wet event whereby good looking individuals of both sexes get up on stage get half naked and get water poured on them. Kind of like a wet T-shirt contest but with the odd male in swim trunks thrown in.

CHIN picnic

Miss CHIN, Anisa Xhakolli

July 1st otherwise known as Canada Day here in Toronto. An annual tradition dating back 40 years was the CHIN picnic. It's one of those things that I seem to remember doing as a family thing. From ice cream eating contests, eating various ethnic foods, watching the bike races, to the hilight the Miss CHIN bikini or Mr. CHIN swimwear, depending on your preference, contest.

This year I went to cover the picnic and found that Chris and Kyoko had a friend, Heath, biking in the race in the early afternoon. Overall the picnic didn't seem as busy as I remembered it as a kid. Maybe it's due to being a lot shorter back then and not being able to see over anyone.

Heath is the one wearing orange in the middle of the picture.
